Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus said, ‘The state cannot discriminate against any religion. The government is obliged to give equal status to all religions.’
He said this while visiting the Dhakeshwari Temple in the capital on the occasion of Durgotsav on Tuesday.
At this time, the Chief Advisor exchanged greetings with the followers of traditional religions. After the visit, he said, ‘We want to build a state that the world will follow us after seeing. To implement the July aspirations, people of all religions will have to work together.’
The Chief Advisor further said, ‘If we divide ourselves, we will fail as a nation, and we do not want to fail. We want to build a new Bangladesh, where all citizens will get equal rights.’
Speaking about celebrating religious festivals in a free environment, the Chief Advisor said, ‘Everyone wants to practice their religion freely, not under the protection of the security forces. We want to build a state where everyone can freely celebrate religious festivals, not under the protection of the security forces. No matter how many religious differences there are, the government will not discriminate against anyone.’
Earlier, on Monday afternoon, leaders of various Puja Celebration Councils met the Chief Advisor at the State Guest House Jamuna. At that time, they invited the Chief Advisor to inspect the Puja Mandap.
At that time, asking about the preparations for Durga Puja and the overall situation, the Chief Advisor said, ‘Although I always want to meet you, there is no opportunity. We meet face to face once a year on the occasion of Puja, we have an opportunity to talk.’
Traditional religious leaders told the Chief Advisor that more than 1,000 Puja Mandap have increased this year compared to last year. The work of preparing Puja Mandap across the country is in full swing.
